I want to begin talking about how I got started in beading, when I was about 8 years old, my dad bought me a bead kit nothing like you see now-a-days, I was excited, and was eager to learn my new hobby, so I went to my room with my beads in hand and started "playing" and creating designs, unfortunately I have nothing that I made when I was at this age, I ended up giving everything I made away.
I was having so much fun doing designs and creating jewelry and other things that I carried into my adult life. Now they have so many different styles and types of beads that I almost have to stay out of the stores because I would go broke....when I go to a bead store, I usually take just as much money as I feel I can spend and then I can go purchase some beads.
Being able to purchase online is even worse, so I do a wish list folder and get things as I go.
I have 5 sisters who when I wasn't home or something would go in my room and start messing with my beads, (have you ever tried to pick up seed beads out of a carpet) they were really good at spilling my beads every where. I would get so darn mad.
I still have beads from when I was growing up, as well as new ones.
My next goal is to learn how to make beads, not just the paper or clay type of beads, but glass and silver and other types as well.
I would like to read your stories of how you got started in beading, please feel free to post.
Have a Wonderful Day!
